Good Faith Estimate
Last updated April 20, 2023.
You have the right to a ‘Good Faith Estimate (GFE),’ as required by the ‘No Surprises Act,’ for the sake of clarity and transparency about how much your healthcare will cost. My fee is stated up front and is predictable.
My fee is currently $150 per 55-minute individual session and $200 per 55-minute couples/relationship session, subject to change. Longer sessions available, pro rata. If my fee changes, you will be notified promptly.
A GFE for my services = fee per session X number of sessions.
The number of sessions is determined collaboratively based on a client’s concerns, goals and progress. The number of sessions cannot ethically or realistically be estimated, and certainly not before we’ve gotten to know each other. Your treatment and number of sessions is ultimately up to you. My practice is private pay only; I do not bill, charge, or engage with insurance companies. This means I am an “out-of-network” provider for all insurance companies. Payment is expected at the time services are rendered and the fee for one session must be paid before the next session starts. My approach is strengths-based; thus, I avoid diagnoses when possible, though can provide upon request.
A Deeper Dive into the No Surprises Act:
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services in order to avoid surprises. Surprise medical bills arise when insured consumers inadvertently receive care from out-of-network hospitals, doctors, or other providers they did not choose. There will be no situation in which you would “inadvertently” receive care from me or with no choice.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees - You Bloom Therapy does not provide these services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. You may save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
I will be transparent with you about the costs of the services we agree on together. You will have no surprises here.
This transparency is required by ethical standards and is necessary for us to work well together. You may certainly ask me about any costs about which you may be unsure, and I will provide you with clear information. Please feel free to contact me if you have any related questions via the contact form on this website or by calling 616-952-3135.
